DESCRIPTION

Dry Polymer preparation system hydrates and dilutes Dry Polymer. The system has the capacity to generate up to ____GPH of polymer solution with at least 30 minutes of aging. The solution concentration can be changed from 0.05% up to 1.0%.

MATERIALS

POLYMER FEEDER FRAME: The dry polymer feeder frame is made of stainless steel, Grade 304 or higher. All fasteners are made of stainless steel. No steel, coated steel, or aluminum components are used. The frame is designed for easy access to all components. The frame is elevated at least 3” above the floor to allow washdown of the floor under the feeder and the hopper.

TANK SUPPORT FRAME: The tank support frame is made of welded steel. The steel is painted to resist corrosion.

WATER PIPING AND CONTROLS

Water piping is made of brass or Sch 80 PVC. The piping include:

• Brass strainer with stainless steel screen.
  
• Rotameter to measure the rate of water flow.
  
• Brass water flow control valve.
  
• Brass solenoid valve.
  
• Stainless steel pressure gage.
  
• Low water pressure switch.
  

ELECTRICAL CONTROL

Controls are housed in a NEMA 4X non-metallic enclosure. Controls include:

• PLC control for improved reliability.
  
• Switches to allow Manual or Automatic Operation.
  
• Local alarms.
  
• All components are wired to the main panel.
  
• Terminals for remote alarm indication.
  

DRY FEEDER

The feeder is made of stainless steel and inert plastics. The feeder has a clear door to allow visual observation of feed rate. The disc speed is adjustable to control the amount of polymer fed. Non-contact proximity capacitance sensors are provided to detect loss of dry polymer feed and blockage of the apparatus that mixes the dry polymer with the dilution water.

DRY POLYMER HOPPER

• Hopper has capacity of at least 2.7 cubic feet.
  
• A perforated screen to trap lumps larger than 3/8" diameter. Screen is installed near the top of the hopper to allow maximum screening area.
  
• Hopper slope is at least 45O.
  
• Hopper has a stainless steel cover that is automatically held in the open position and spring loaded in the closed position.
  
• Top of the hopper shall be no more than 34" above floor height.
  
• A vibrator aids the free flow of the dry polymer.
  

WETTING AND MIXING SYSTEM

The dry polymer is fed to a device that provides sufficient energy to completely disperse and hydrate it. The apparatus is self cleaning so that no routine maintenance is required. The apparatus discharges the solution into the top of the aging tank. Pneumatic conveying under positive pressure is not allowed.

AIR DRYING

Includes a system to provide dry air to the hopper and the feeder enclosure. The system is self contained and does not require compressed air. It generates air with 15% relative humidity when room air is 90OF with 90% relative humidity.

MIXING TANK

The tank has a _____ Gal working capacity. It is an open top, vertical tank made of polyethylene. The tank is agitated. The agitator is 350 RPM, all stainless steel wetted parts. The agitator motor is TEFC.

STORAGE TANK

The tank has a ____ Gal working capacity. It is an open top, vertical tank made of polyethylene.The tank hsa bottom side outlet that will allow the tank to be drained to within 1/2" of the bottom.

REQUIRED UTILITIES

The feeder operates with a dilution water supply pressure range of 40 to 100 psi. The feeder operates with 120 or 460VAC.
