ARO powder transfer pumps

ARO Powder Transfer Pumps are designed for efficiency and safety. Operators no longer have to transfer powder from totes to blending tanks which helps eliminate any clumping issues.  These pumps can be used for a wide range of powders that are used in industrial manufacturing operations. The ARO diaphragm pump is portable and does not need to be pre-installed, making it easy to move from one location to another. Learn more about the powder pump applications here.

Powder-Pump

How does the Powder Pump work?

  • Air valves and ports used to keep powders in a semi-fluid state.
  • Cycling of the pump moves the fluidized powder.
  • Timer delay allows the “powder chambers” to fluidize and suspend prior to the pump cycling.

Problems to Solve

Work-site Contamination: Powder Pump promotes a cleaner environment.

Material Waste: Eliminates Manual Bag/Bucket Dumping. Promotes cleaner work-site.

Ergonomics/Safety: Operator no longer dumps heavy bags/buckets of powder

Case Study 1

The customer was manually carrying buckets of Acrylic Resin and dumping the material into mixing tanks. The operator was required to climb steps to the mezzanine above the tank, to dump material into the tank. This process was an ergonomic threat to the operator, created material waste, and airborne contaminants.

Solution:

  • Model #PP20A-ASS-STT-B: Stainless Steel Powder Pump to pull material directly from the tote.
  • The unit is mounted on a mixing tank. Acrylic Resin pulled from the tote.
  • Material dispensed directly into mixing vortex.
  • Big improvement in mix cycle time.

Case Study 2

Company manufacturing silicone caulking wanted to buy powder in a super sack to save money by buying in bulk.

Solution:

  • Model #PP20A-ASS-STT-B: SST Powder Pump transfers Fumed Silica from Super Sack to a storage silo. Then pumps powder from the silo into the batching process. The customer uses Nitrogen as a fluidization media which reduces moisture content in silica by one percent every time powder is pumped.
  • Super sack unloader & hopper supplied by others.

Case Study 3

Canadian company needed to transfer silica in the formulation of UV inks. A new facility intended to batch the ink by hand. The company reported manually dumping the silica turned out to be a “complete disaster."

Solution:

  • ARO proved to be a superior system. Standardized on ARO diaphragm pumps for transfer of fumed silica.
